Mercia spent over 40 years in the plastics industry. An Oxford Chemistry graduate, she completed a London PhD which was sponsored by the Ministry of Defence. After several years working in R & D for aerospace and the birth of 2 children, she joined the BPF in 1989 (for 6 months!!!), working mainly on environmental issues.
